The University of Ghana has announced new fees for the 2002/2003 academic year. The fees range between over 700,000 cedis and 1.2 million cedis. For fresh students reading humanities, those in residence would pay ?1,017,500 while non-residents will pay ?867, 500. Resident freshmen pursuing Science and Agricultural Science would pay ?1,178,500 with the non-residents paying ?1,028, 500.

A notice from the university registrar stated that continuing resident Humanities students would pay ?897,500 while continuing non-resident Humanities students pay ?747,500.

Continuing resident students studying Science and Agricultural Science would pay ?1,058,500 while their non-resident colleagues would pay ?980,500. Medical and Dental students in residence would pay ?1,277,000 while their non-resident colleagues would pay ?1,127,000.

2011/2012 School Fees for Senior High School

As directed by the Ghana Education Service, Boarding students are to pay GHc328.70 while day students will pay GHc160.70.

Foreign students on the other hand will pay GHc468.72.

All these charges exclude PTA dues. They have however cautioned heads of second cycle schools not to demand more than what is approved as PTA charges.

There is often a supplementary bill per school for the term which features charges for items and programmes including National Math and Science quiz, School hymnal, manufacture of bed, Municipal Assembly education levy, Electricity, House dues, Exeat card, Dining hall/Assembly hall furniture levy, facility maintenance fee and one gallon of paint.
