Former Ghana midfielder Michael Essien’s wages at Azerbaijani club Sabail FK have been disclosed.
Essien joined the Sailors on a one-year deal in 2019 after failing to extend his contract at Indonesian side Persib Bandung.
The 35-year-old has been a mainstay in the side as they occupied 7th on the standings before the league was halted due to the coronavirus crisis.
It has been revealed that the former Chelsea ace is the highest paid player at the club with a salary package of €250,000.
Essien who started his football career in Ghana with Liberty Professionals has played for several clubs abroad such as Bastia and Olympique Lyon in France, Chelsea in England, Real Madrid in Spain, AC Milan in Italy, Panathinaikos in Greece, Persib Bandung in Indonesia and now Sabail FK in Azerbaijan.
His illustrious career has seen him win several laurels including the French Ligue 1, the English Premier League, the UEFA Champions League, etc.
